The fork is what actually holds your meat on the shaft. Four prongs off a round hub, so the load is gripped from four sides and does not spin loose on the bar halfway through the afternoon.

5 mm prongs go into a leg of lamb or a whole chicken without bending back, and the hub slides onto the 8 mm shaft.
Buy them in pairs, one at each end of the load, so nothing can work its way free. The SpitAlles Combo includes one.
